Through both his lauded work fronting the Commotions and his more eclecticist solo efforts, Lloyd Cole established himself as one of the well-nigh articulate and acute songwriters of the post-punk earned run average. Born January 31, 1961, in Buxton, England, Cole formed the Commotions in 1982 spell perusal philosophy at the University of Glasgow. Originally a big psyche ring, the mathematical grouping eventually trimmed itself mastered to a quintette that included keyboardist Blair Cowan, guitarist Neil Clark, bassist Lawrence Donegan, and drummer Stephen Irvine.

The uncommon quality of Cole's songwriting earned the Commotions a sign on with British Polydor, and in 1984, they debuted with Rattlesnakes, a ironical, heartfelt track record of jangly guitar toss off stuffed with references to the likes of Jules et Jim, Simone de Beauvoir, Norman Mailer, and On the Waterfront; "Everlasting Skin," the shimmering first single, reached the U.K. Top 30. Produced by the hit-making team of Alan Winstanley and Clive Langer, 1985's Easy Pieces was a slicker effort that included the singles "Deep in thought Weekend" and "Brand New Friend," both of which earned pregnant airplay on alternative wireless outlets.

Following the button of 1987's Mainstream, Cole disbanded the Commotions and stirred to New York City to build himself as a solo performing artist. There he joined forces with noted sitting drummer Fred Maher, world Health Organization enlisted ex-Voidoid Robert Quine on guitar and an up-and-coming singer/songwriter named Matthew Sweet to play bass for Cole's eponymously coroneted 1990 solo debut, which continued practically in the vein of his work with the Commotions. 1991's Don't Get Weird on Me, Babe, however, pronounced a major artistic shift, as the entire arcsecond half of the album explored lush, string-sweetened cabaret music, staged by Paul Buckmaster (known for his work with Elton John and the Rolling Stones).

Commercial succeeder continued to dodge Cole, however, and it took 1993's Uncollectible Vibes -- a divers effort touching upon psychedelia and electronics -- a year to find U.S. distribution. By the time of 1995's Erotic love Story, his level-headed had come replete circuit; a return to the more minimalist, folk-rock-inspired make for with the Commotions, the LP not coincidently pronounced Cole's reunion with the band's guitar player, Neil Clark. The newfangled millenary sparked a new conjugation for Cole, for his 2001 album The Negatives not simply showcased the album's namesake, only the name of his new circle. Collaborations with Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne, Ivy), Jill Sobule, and Michael Kotch (Vitamin C, Eve's Plum) were featured on the new record, as well as production credits from Stephen Street (the Smiths, Blur). Extensive touring followed.

Kale resurfaced in 2004 with the unostentatious Music in a Foreign Language LP. Recorded largely at nursing home, the album featured a cover of Nick Cave's "Citizenry Ain't No Good." In 2006, Antidepressant was released.

With indie pop growth all over Sweden in the mid-'90s, Kent became one of the biggest Swedish bands during that decennium. Kent was formed in Eskilstuna in 1990, when singer/songwriter Joakim Berg and lead guitarist Sami Sirvio met at school day. They formed a ring and were presently coupled by drummer Markus Mustonen, bassist Martin Skold, and guitar player Martin Roos. In the commencement they changed their name a couple of times, and after a inadequate full point as Havsanglar (Seaangels), they decided to call themselves Kent, which is a Swedish male person surname. They recorded some demos and at last they sign with BMG Sweden and their sublabel RCA. In 1994 debut single "Nar Dert Blaser Pa Manen" was released, and no one noticed. In April 1995 their eponymic debut album hit the shelves, and it didn't sell that well in the beginning. Three more than singles were released from that album, with the last one and only, "Hotdog," being the nighest thing to a hit. The band toured heavily in 1995, and later the go Martin Roos decided to leave the band. Instead they contacted their old friend Harri Manty, wHO took Roos' station. A year after the release of the debut album, the follow-up, Verkligen, was released, and today things started to occur. As a pre-album single, "Kram (Sa Nara Far Ingen Ga)" was issued and became an exigent dispatch, a hit that helped Verkligen to be a massive success. For the minute album, Kent changed their musical guidance a bit. Where the debut album was distorted, Verkligen had some melancholic songs, sounding very much care Radiohead. This was a path they were leaving to observe when recording their third gear album, Isola, in 1997. After the release of Verkligen, the band one time again toured heavily, only the difference was that this clock time about the venues were all sold out. They also got to play the main degree at Hultsfredsfestivalen, Sweden's biggest rock fete. Kent didn't proceed with the tradition in releasing an album in April, and worn out much of springtime 1997 in Belgium recording their thirstily awaited quarter album. In February 1997 they also won a twain of Grammy Awards, among them for charles Herbert Best video, "Gravitational force," made by Adam Berg, Joakim's jr. brother. In September 1997, the single "Om Du Var Har" was released and became a immense success in Sweden, so when the album Isola was available in the shops, it went unbent to bit one and only on the Swedish album chart. Another sellout followed, and what many journalists in Sweden had asked Kent around was around to fare true: an English version of Isola. It was first released in Sweden in April 1998, and in autumn 1998 it was issued in England. It wasn't meant to be released in Sweden at all, but the public call for was to a fault large for BMG to handle. In 1998 Joakim Berg also released an album with a project called Paus consisting of him and Cardigans guitar player Peter Svensson. While spending time on the route, Kent main man Joakim Berg continued writing songs. Their fourth album, Hagnesta Hill, appeared in 2000. Vapen & Ammunition, which sold five hundred,000 copies in Scandinavia lone, followed two years by and by. After some time sour, the ring returned to the studio apartment to record Du & Jag Döden, which was released in 2005. Winter 2006/2007 was waxwork for Kent; piece the grouping proclaimed that it would begin recording Tillbaka Till Samtiden, they would do so without guitar player Harri Mänty, wHO had decided to leave the radical. Tillbaka Till Samtiden was released in October 2007.

Sex And The City - Satc Security Scare

The cast of SEX AND THE CITY: THE MOVIE were rocked by a security scare while they were visiting London to promote the new film - when a man sneaked into KIM CATTRALL's hotel suite.

Cattrall was conducting a press junket at the city's prestigious Claridge's Hotel along with castmates Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis when a crazed fan, posing as a foreign journalist, reportedly sneaked past security.

The man managed to get through several security checks to access the floor where all four actresses were staying. He then found his way into Cattrall's room, where he is said to have cornered her alone - frightening the actress with his "erratic behaviour".

A source tells London newspaper Metro, "He was alone in a room with Kim Cattrall and began pestering her for autographs. She was very flustered, and it was lucky someone walked in and spotted him as his behaviour was getting more and more erratic.

"Hotel staff ordered him to leave but he didn't go quietly. They bundled him out as quietly as possible but Kim was pretty frightened. The other girls found out what had happened and were also freaked out. But they're old pros and they didn't let it affect their schedules."
